B.Tech From DU University – Admission Process, Eligibility, Fees, Specialization

B.Tech Admission at DU

The B.Tech admission in DU is done on the basis of the All India Common Rank List (CRL) of the Joint Entrance Examination (Main) Paper-I, the eligibility requirements, criteria, and procedures specified by the university. The National Testing Agency (NTA) conducts JEE (Main). Seat allocation to B.Tech courses is based solely on the Common Rank List (CRL) in JEE (Main) Paper-I, subject to fulfilment of eligibility criteria. 22.5% of the total number of seats is reserved for candidates belonging to scheduled castes and scheduled tribes.

The admission process follows the following steps –

To apply for B.Tech programs, the following are mandatory requirements –

  1. JEE (Main) Application Number of the applying year
  2. Applicant’s Name (as it appears in JEE Main)
  3. Date of Birth

Registration

Candidates need to register online through the official website of the university during the application window for B.Tech from DU University. They must fill out the application form, pay the requisite one-time registration-cum-allocation fee (non-refundable), and submit necessary documents. Different fees apply to UR/OBC-NCL/EWS and SC/ST/PwBD candidates. The SC/ST/PwBD candidates have to pay a lesser registration-cum-allocation fee as compared to UR/OBC-NCL/EWS. Application submitted through any other mode or portal/website is not accepted under any circumstances. Before initiating the application process, candidates should go through the prospectus carefully.

The application form has the following sections –

  1. Personal Section – In the Personal Section, the details entered by the candidate must match with the particulars mentioned in the certificates or documents of the candidate. Fill this section carefully.
  2. Academic Section – Candidates must enter the marks of all the subjects in which they have passed Class XII.
  3. Uploads – The candidate must upload the required relevant documents. They must ensure that the uploaded certificates are visible and readable.
  4. Preview – The candidates are able to preview the application form only after the successful uploading of the mandatory documents. They have the option of editing or making changes, if required, at this stage. Once the application is submitted, no changes can be made.
  5. Submission – Once the application form has been filled out and the documents are uploaded, the candidate must submit the form by paying the registration/allocation fee. The candidates become eligible to participate further only after the successful payment of the registration fees within the stipulated time.
  6. Providing the Preferences – The candidates must confirm the Common Rank of JEE (Main) Paper-I. They must give their preference for the B.Tech program(s) in which they are willing to take admission, if offered.

The following is the list of documents required at the time of admission for B.Tech from DU University –

Candidates are responsible for the quality and authenticity of the certificate they upload. They must take the utmost care to ensure the uploaded documents and certificates are authentic and accurate. The university returns all the certificates to the candidates upon completion of physical verification conducted at a later stage.

  1. Class X Certificate in the name of the candidate, indicating date of birth and parents’ names.
  2. Class XII Marksheet in the name of the candidate. The name of the candidate must match with the JEE (Main) form.
  3. SC/ST/OBC-NCL/EWS/CW/KM/PwBD Certificate (in the name of the candidate) issued by the competent issuing authority (if applicable).
  4. PAN card details of the person whose bank details are mentioned in the application form.

Counselling –

  1. After the entrance examination results are declared, counselling sessions are conducted for seat allocation based on merit.
  2. Various rounds of counselling are conducted till all the seats are filled.
  3. After completing regular allocation rounds, if seats remain vacant, a spot round is conducted. Candidates who had applied earlier but were not admitted till the date of the declaration of the spot admission round can participate in the spot admission round.

Seat allocation and admission –

  1. On declaration of the seat allocation results by the university, the candidates must login to their dashboard for acceptance of the allocated seat, if offered.
  2. On declaration of each allocation round, if a seat is provisionally allocated, the candidate must “Accept” the allocated seat before the last date/time specified for the given allocation round.
  3. Those who accept the provisionally allocated seat should then visit the website of FoT for the schedule of physical verification of documents in the office of FoT. The candidate needs to be required to appear in person for verification of the original documents as and when notified by the university.
  4. If, at any stage, documents submitted by the candidate relating to the admission are found to be fake, non-genuine and/or fabricated, or, in any other manner, defective, the said candidate will not be given admission.
  5. After approval is accorded, the candidate needs to pay the prescribed admission confirmation fee for the seat allotted.
  6. The remaining admission fees need to be deposited within 10 days after the closure of all rounds of admission.
  7. The admission confirmation fee for the PwBD category is less than the other categories. The fee details can be found in the prospectus released every year.
  8. The admissions are confirmed only after the successful payment of the confirmation fee.

What is the total fee for B.Tech in DU?

The admission fee for B.Tech in DU is Rs. 216000.00. After the approval is accorded, the candidates are required to pay Rs. 10,000.00 as admission confirmation fee for the allocated seat. The remaining admission fees need to be deposited within 10 days after the closure of all rounds of admission, failing which the admission is cancelled. The admission is confirmed only after the successful payment of the confirmation fee. For candidates belonging to the PwBD category, the admission confirmation fee is Rs. 25000.00.

If the candidates fail to pay the admission confirmation fee within the stipulated time, it is considered a cancellation of the provisionally allocated seat. The allocated seat is forfeited, and the candidates are not considered for any subsequent allocation rounds. B.Tech at DU fees details are released every year in the prospectus before the start of the application process.

What are the eligibility criteria for BTech admission in DU?

  1. The candidate must have passed Class XII or its equivalent on a single recognized board.
  2. A candidate must have secured 60% or more marks in an aggregate of Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics and must have passed English as a subject of study at the Senior School Certificate Examination level.
  3. For applying to B.Tech programs, candidates must have appeared in JEE (Main) Paper-I of the year of the applying year.

Unreserved (UR) 60%
Economically Weaker Section (EWS) 60%
Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST) 50%
Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD) 50%
Other Backward Class (OBC-NCL) 55%

 

Non-eligibility criteria –

Candidates who appeared in the Class XII examination in the year of application and received a compartment (supplementary) placement are not eligible for admission in the current academic year.
